The informative session 'Manchego Winemakers and the CMO on Wine' organized by the COAG-IR will start at 10:30 AM on the first day of the National Trade Fair on Wine, FENAVIN, which will take place at the Ciudad Real Trade Fair Pavilion from May 5th to the 7th.

The chosen subject for this edition, as could not be otherwise, is the Common Market Organization on Wine in the European Union, which is currently a hot issue indeed since its last reform entered in force approximately a year ago. The different speakers will be reviewing the numerous angles that the current CMO is offering, although they will pay special attention to the direct repercussions over the producers of the Castellano-Manchego region.

José Luís Martínez Guijarro, Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development of the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and Alfonso Marín Salcedo, Interim Secretary General of the Castilla-La Mancha COAG-IR and Regional Representative for Wine, will be in charge of inaugurating the session. After its inauguration the event will continue with a series of interventions that will cover different perspectives. Ángel Villafranca, President of the UCAMAN (Union of Castilla-La Mancha Cooperatives) will be offering his view of the production sector. Francisco Martínez Arroyo, Director General of Agricultural Production for the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, will put the Administration's point of view forward. And Rafael del Rey, Director General of the Spanish Wine Observatory (OEMV) will explain the opinions of the viniculture industry about the CMO.

Naturally, after these three presentations a round table will take place, during which the different opinions about the numerous aspects that include the Common Market Organization of the Wine Market will be debated: restructuring and conversion of vineyards, aids for promotion in third countries, changes in the regulation on denominations of origin and cooperatives, inclusion of aids in the Common Agricultural Policy Single Payment and Support Scheme...

The conclusions to the session 'Manchego Winemakers and the CMO on Wine' organized by the Castilla-La Mancha COAG-IR at FENAVIN will undoubtedly be of great use to all the Castellano-Manchego professionals in the viniculture sector.
