This afternoon Fenavin has hosted the Award Ceremony of the Official Awards to the 'Best Spanish Vino de la Tierra Wines, an event that has been presided over by the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development of Castilla-La Mancha, José Luis Martínez Guijarro, in the company of the President of AVIMES and of the winery Cherubino Valsangiacomo, S.A., Arnoldo Valsangiacomo Chiesa, along with the Secretary General of AVIMES, Rafael Puyó.

José Luis Martínez Guijarro highlighted "the immense satisfaction of presiding over an award ceremony of these characteristics". "I am tremendously satisfied that of the twelve wineries that have received awards, eleven of them are from Castilla-La Mancha, which once again proves the important presence and quality of our products", emphasized the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development of Castilla-La Mancha.

On his part the Secretary General of AVIMES, Rafael Puyó, pointed out the importance of promoting wine in Spain, and he took advantage of the presence of the Minister to request more support from the Administration in the promotion of this product. "It is important that the merits of this product be made known with special promotions, so that the public will know that it is not the winemakers who are talking about the benefits of wine, but in fact the physicians and scientists", he affirmed.

This ceremony has taken place within the frame of the National Trade Fair on Wine, FENAVIN, which is being held in the Ciudad Real Trade Fair Pavilion from May 5th to the 7th. The Association of Viticulture Entrepreneurs of Spain (AVIMES) has been organizing this competition since the first edition of FENAVIN, as a means to inform about Spanish wines with protected geographical indication and to make their value known. The main added value of these awards is the fact that they are Officially Recognized, which implies that in accordance with the regulation of the EU, these are the only awards that can appear on the label of the wines.

The prestige of these awards is also reinforced by the technical guaranty of the IVICAM (Institute of the Vine and Wine of Castilla-La Mancha), which is the institution that is in charge of the tasting sessions and of evaluating the samples, duly following the strict international protocols of the OIV and UIOE.
