During the event, the president of FENAVIN, Nemesio de Lara, stated "in innovation and risk one finds success and reward", his way of congratulating ASEVICAMAN for getting ahead "argonauts showing the way" and "you had enough vision to detect a new protection for wine and it has proven to be good for the sector". In the same way, De Lara compared people who criticized the project with those who did not believe in FENAVIN when it was created in 2001 and "who are now total believers".
The Regional Minister for Agriculture, Mercedes Gómez, explained that, in a globalized market, differentiation is a must to compete and she says "with the wines fromTierra de Castilla we cover more market and we bottle more". Gómez talked about the risky decision which was creating (in 1999) Wines of Vino de la Tierra de Castilla. Facing current situation, with the Common Organization of Agricultural Markets' wine reform, the regional minister said "these are difficult but hopeful times and together (with the sector) we will be successful".
The conclusion of the event, presented by the Journalist Mónica Sánchez, was in the hands of the president of ASEVICAMAN, José García Carrión, who exhorted the sector "not to be afraid of the New World because the other wine producing countries are green with envy seeing our restructuring and modernization"
García Carrión made it clear that "in Spain, we have a potential to market from 5 to 6 million hectoliters and not 1 as we are doing now". He talked about the excitement put into the Fundación Castilla-La Mancha Tierra de Viñedos (Castilla - La Mancha Land of Vines Foundation). In this association, he hopes "intelligence will prevail in order to reach an agreement between cooperatives and farm organizations and dedicate ourselves to promotion campaigns as soon as possible"
Next came the awards of I Concurso de los Mejores Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla", promoted by "ASEVICAMAN" in cooperation with Castilla - La Mancha Regional Ministry of Agriculture and which is a landmark as for the first time those variety wines showing the vintage and the winemaking system are promoted and they can be very much appreciated by the consumers as table wines as they are good value for money. 100 wineries entered the contest.
