He requested wine growers to go for quality.
Today, the president of the National Wine Fair, Nemesio de Lara, requested wine growers, gathered in FENAVIN by the agricultural organization COAG, to continue to focus on quality. "What we spend on more production we can spend on more quality", said De Lara, accompanied by the institutional coordinator, Ángel Amador.
De Lara thinks, and he confirmed it during the opening ceremony of the Conference on Wine organized by Coordinadora de Agricultores y Ganaderos (Cattle Raisers and Farmers Coordinating Committee) COAG, that going for quality must be supported by "brave actions" in the external promotion field by the winemakers "because there are emerging markets, like the Asian ones, which offer many possibilities".
It is necessary to encourage consumption stated the president of FENAVIN "which is plummeting despite a small upturn in 2004". Next, he indicated that one cannot forget the importance of musts "because diversification is important and we must go ahead of the consumer needs".
De Lara wanted to clarify that when he says Ciudad Real Provincial Government has organized FENAVIN to favor all the people related to the wine world, he is also thinking of producer and wine growers. "You are in a professional fair which we have prepared to contribute to get the sector back on its feet and we need everybody's wholehearted help to dot that" he pointed out.
As for the president of COAG, Antonio Castellanos, he said De Lara was "the driving force of FENAVIN". Castellanos stated "we are all saying we need to do something for the wine sector but nobody does anything except the president of FENAVIN who has organized the best Wine Fair in Spain".
COAG had very interesting conferences on the wine sector with the participation of accredited speakers like Pau Roca, secretary of the Federación Española del Vino (Spanish Wine Federation); Antonio Salinas, member of Castilla - La Mancha Provincial Government and spokesman for Agriculture, Federico López, director of Mercados de la consejería de Agricultura (Markets of the Regional Ministry of Agriculture); Manuel Sánchez, vine grower and member of the Comité Consultivo del Vino (Wine Consultative Committee) of the European Union and José Pérez, spokesman for Comisión de Agricultura del Senado (Agriculture Commission of the Senate).
