Presentation of FENAVIN 2005
The president of Feria Nacional del Vino (National Wine Fair) FENAVIN, Nemesio de Lara, highlighted the program to attract new national buyers as the main novelty.
During the presentation of the folder sent to the exhibitors who will participate and the launch of the advertising poster for 2005, the President of the National Wine Fair (FENAVIN), Nemesio de Lara, joined by Ángel Amador, institutional manager of the Trade show, and Manuel Juliá, Director of FENAVIN, stated that "400 international buyers from 30 countries will participate in FENAVIN 2005", which will be held from 9th May to 12th May next year in the Fair Pavilion in Ciudad Real.
To that effect, Mr. Nemesio de Lara expressed his aspiration of increasing the 256 foreign importers from 22 different countries who participated in FENAVIN 2003, last time the fair was held, to over 400. " this figure will be mathematically accurate and I think we can even exceed it" the president stated emphatically.
During this function, Mr. De Lara highlighted the program to attract national buyers as the main novelty of the fair. This program has two aims: to promote the trade show in the wine sector and to bring about and facilitate more participation in the fair. The president announced that the program would start immediately in order to attract a great number of buyers from all over Spain to Ciudad Real.
Last time the show was held, there was a gratifying interest from the various national wine buyers (distributors, purchasing officers from important chains, hotels and restaurants, wine shop, etc). That is why this national buyers program was created upon suggestions from the many exhibitors who participated in the fair in previous years.
The president pointed out "even before receiving the notice that Feria Nacional del Vino (FENAVIN) will be held next year, tens of exhibitors have already requested to buy space within the fair".
During this presentation, the advertising poster for the fair was also shown for the first time. This poster is the image of FENAVIN. "other elements from the poster are less important as the image of FENAVIN is sufficiently attractive to sell itself ", stated Mr. De Lara.
CHINA, TARGET FOR 2005
The co-operation between fairs is the other piece of news for next year. To that effect, the organization of FENAVIN is carrying out a co-operation policy with other trade shows, amongst them with the International Wine and Technology Expo of China.
In fact, next week, a co-operation agreement will be signed between FENAVIN and the Chinese government whereby Chinese distributors interested in introducing Spanish wines present at the fair will participate in FENAVIN 2005. In turn, there will be an institutional stand in China to introduce the exhibitors' catalogue, products and brands from FENAVIN.
Furthermore, the organization announced other essential characteristics which will define next FENAVIN such as: the increase of exhibition space for the Wine gallery due to the high involvement of the wine tasters and the number of registered brands during the last show. In 2003 there was a total of 5000 visitors, 525 wine brands and 12500 bottles were consumed.
Other changes foreseen for 2005 are the reduction of the fair's opening hours, from 10.00 to 19.00 hrs instead of from 10.00 to 20.00 hrs, and also, to avoid the weekend, the fair will take place from Monday to Thursday. Referring to this change, Mr. Nemesio de Lara pointed out that "FENAVIN has to concentrate on professionals as the important thing for us is to buy and sell wine in an interesting and serious manner from a deep knowledge of the product".
Finally, the president of Feria Nacional del Vino (FENAVIN) defined FENAVIN 2005 with 3 characteristics: to render the trade show more professional, increase business and make it more international, "without loosing our own home, which is Spain".
